The Bur-zog Family

Meet the Bur-zog's! Well...actually meet the Burns' and the Herzog''s- the two most beautiful families I have ever photographed ;) Okay, so maybe I am a little partial because this is my family. You see, one of the perks of being a family photographer is making your family take pictures. I can almost hear the groans from hundreds of miles away when I send out that much anticipiated email every year entitled "Family Photo Time!" I do think the women get excited, but the men on the other hand, well that is a different story. That's okay though because they are all very cooperative and I know when its all said and done, everyone is happy we did it...again. We are truly fortunate to all live in Texas even though we are a bit spread out. I can't help but request we do photos when we all are together because that may only happen once or twice a year. I am really very grateful for having such an wonderful family and in-law family. I really couldn't have asked for better people to share life with and God has truly blessed us in so many ways. In 2015 we foster-adopted our third son. I wasn't able to share these pictures with the public until after we finalized his adoption. So I am excited to be able to share them now.

This first set of photos is the Burns' side of the family (my husband's side). These were taken in beautiful Wimberly, TX this past fall while we all gathered for a family wedding. It was such a fun trip where we made a lot of fun memories. My boys had a blast and still talk about it several months later. For the big group shot, I set up my tripod and attempted to use my remote shutter button, but of course the battery was dead. So I did the whole 10 second timer- run in place- trick. I think it took about 5 takes, but we got it!

These second set of photos are of my family, the Herzog's. These were taken the day after Christmas at my parent's gorgeous property in Montgomery, TX. On this day, a coldfront was blowing through causing it to be drizzly all day long. This was our only chance to get our photos done so we had to do it and I am so glad we did. That afternoon, the wind picked up like crazy and was practically blowing us away during our photo time. I was really worried that my tripod and camera was going to blow over. Thankfully, that was not the case, and we even ended up with these gorgeous deep blue skies. There are now 15 people in my family, 7 of which are children- ages 9, 7, 4, 3, 3, 2, and 1. 7 children under 10 years old are not easy to photograph, but they did great! Especially despite the fact that my oldest two darlings were being stinkers due to no nap that day and staying up late the night before. Needless to say I was thrilled when I caught them having a genuinely super sweet moment together (awww, heart melts).

All in all, our 2015 family photos went better than I had hoped and as I look through them from time to time, my heart smiles and I marvel at how the Lord has poured out His blessings on us. And for that we are always thankful.
